Ambassador Hotel

Address : 3400 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles .



The hotel

With a Mediterranean style designed by architect Myron Hunt, the hotel opened on January 1, 1921, with 400 rooms.
It was frequented by celebrities, with some residing there.

During World War II, the Ambassador Hotel was used for war fundraisers in "Cocoanut Grove", the reception room, and when the war ended, it became a retreat for servicemen, servicewomen and many movie actors.
In 1944, the Hollywood Press Association had the first annual Golden Globes ceremonies here.

The Cocoanut Grove entertained the Academy Awards Ceremony from 1930 to 1936.

On February 29, 1940, the 1939 Academy Award Ceremony was performed in the Cocoanut Grove.


This hotel admitted the Blue Book Model Agency, headed by Emmeline Snively : .


In June 1968, Robert Kennedy was murdered in the kitchen space of the hotel, while he was leaving the reception in honor of his success to the Primary Elections in California.

The hotel closed in 1989.

It was demolished in 2005.
